It's a very good news that iPad 2 jailbreak is come but this could be the bad news to all Apple product lovers who are waiting to buy iPad 3 like me.
Over the last few weeks the news of a release for Apple’s 3rd generation iPad has been heating up, and while some readers will find this strange considering there has only just been an iPad 2 released by Apple, with further investigation it makes sense for a new device to release this fall.
On the other hand, many current iPad 2 owners will not be too interested in a potential iPad 3 release this year, especially if a jailbreak solution becomes available to them. As most of you are aware, the iPad 2 is proving to be a tough nut to crack for security experts, as it remains the only piece of Apple hardware yet to fall under the jailbreak hammer, publicly anyway.
Which brings us up to the latest developments on that jailbreak, as well-known jailbreak expert Comex has revealed on his Twitter account, that his current iPad 2 jailbreak method is being built with the ability to jailbreak an iPad 2 device in the shortest time possible. His tweet is pretty complex for the average iOS enthusiast, but here is the translation from fellow iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd, as reported from
RedmondPie:
”he’s (drastically!) reducing the time it takes to install the jailbreak, which normally involves moving lots of Apps around”
Although you may be disappointed that there isn’t an update on when the jailbreak will actually be released, you can be satisfied that the method is going to be very simple and hassle-free for users to install when it finally does come out.
Moving back to Apple, this could be a major blow for the company if they do decide to release a new iPad before the end of the year. If an iPad 2 jailbreak does materialize before the iPad 3 is out, you can imagine that many iPad 2 owners are going to want to stick to their current device, and explore the new possibilities with access to the Cydia store, amongst other things.
The company could lose thousands of sales of their new tablet in the blink of an eye, all depending on the timescale for the iPad 2 jailbreak release. It’s going to be a hammerblow for Apple if the jailbreak is released days before the iPad 3 goes on sale.
Of course, we still expect Apple to break records with their third-generation iPad 3 sales, but it’s interesting that a huge portion of their sales could be lost depending on the actions of a group of developers eager to give the community a second option.
